Banks Peninsula

Banks Peninsula is directly south of Christchurch in the South Island.

It is the South Island's most prominent volcanic feature and with two large harbours and many smaller bays and coves there is not shortage of exploring to be undertaken. Full of pretty bays, seaside villages, boutique galleries and welcoming cafes, Banks Peninsular is quite unique.

The Banks Peninsula Track has become one of New Zealand's classic walking holidays. There are many side tracks, so the area can be explored over as many days as you wish. From Akaroa to the remote outer bays, the stunning and diverse Banks Peninsula Track covers 35km of volcanic coastline, native bush, waterfalls and sandy beaches.

The beautiful harbours, inlets and hidden bays of the Banks Peninsular are home to an assortment of sea life: the Hector dolphins (the world's smallest dolphin), New Zealand fur seal, little blue penguins, white-flippered penguin and a whole host of bird life. It is home to the paua and salmon farm.
